Message from the lodge

Time has flown by and its hard to believe 2010 is at our door. As the high season kicks off, we’ve certainly started with a bang. November 2009 has been our busiest month to date. On November 6th, Idwala celebrated it’s 4th year since opening in 2005. With so many guests visiting us from so many countries, we’ve had some very memorable moments and made some great new friends. Its always nice to see familiar faces too. We welcomed back Tom Coombs as well as the Powells (with their new addition) and also Frank Adam.

A moment we won’t forget is when Team Idwala presented John, from the UK, with his Title Deed for the piece of Idwala he now owns. John had experienced a fall while visiting and this was our way of making him feel special. We hope John and Janice will visit again soon.

Chris and Kate joined us after a visit in Knysna to celebrate their honeymoon. We also had a lovely time with Gareth & Nicola, and the Donnely’s who ended up staying a little longer than expected!

Morgan and the team have been busy upgrading parts of the bush boma (more to follow in the next edition) and other areas around the lodge. No time to rest for this team, but they have delicious coffee from Ciro to keep them going. The team all have their new uniforms and everyone is looking very smart. Alida has made a few changes to the rhino room and as soon as there are no guests staying over, we’ll take some photos. There are some lovely new adult and children clothing items in the curio shop too.

The Christmas decorations are up and the Christmas songs are filling the air. The festive season is here in full force. We’re not giving away much as we plan a memorable day for the guests that are staying here on the 25th. It should be festive all round as we welcome in 2010 too.

We encourage you to make this a green Christmas and have prepared some tips for you. Even if you’re not celebrating Christmas, we hope you still have a memorable festive season. We look forward to all that 2010 has to offer - including the FIFA World Cup. However you choose to spend your holidays, we hope you travel safely and arrive home with many joyful memories.
